Penreach is a non-profit in-service education development program that improves the teaching skills of qualified and unqualified educators and their schools in Mpumalanga and the surrounding areas. Our mentoring programme ensures that our people are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge before they are promoted into senior managerial positions. DLM is working together with the Wholesale and Retail Seta to achive the Skills Development agenda for the industry and South Africa. In line with the company’s Workplace Skills Plan, DLM implemented Basic Communications, Numeracy and Computer Skills course (ABET) to empower employees with valuable basic skills. We believe that the experience gained at DLM prepares them for permanent future employment. Some students from various Higher Education Institutions such as VUT, TUT, TSC etc were given the opportunity to gain work experience while completing their qualifications which is a requirement for qualifications such as Mechanical Engineering, Fitting and Turning. An ongoing in-house Product Training programme for all levels of permanent staff has been implemented. Training is often presented by our overseas Principals and senior management within the company. Employees are also encouraged to continually improve their qualifications and skills by enrolling in suitable courses at external education establishments. For goods and services that can be sourced locally, DLM has committed itself to make use of BEE companies. Local BEE suppliers are identified and appointed as preferential suppliers, they also benefit from our Enterprise Development programme of settling accounts early. SIXMD is black owned company that has been identified and is being assisted in its endeavour to become a reputable technical services supplier. DLM is providing training and mentoring to the directors and assisting with bookkeeping services. DLM has appointed Kira Valves as a preferred supplier of machining services. The women were taught baking skills that will empower them to not only produce a quality product that they can sell in their communities but to operate and manage bakery businesses in a sustainable and profitable manner, in so doing provide a sustainable income for themselves and their families.
